Shawn was, simply put, amazing. I have worked with several other real estate agents over the past 20 years, and Shawn was so much better than all of them, I will never again use anyone else. 

Shawn is one of those unique people that is a master of both the big picture and the tiniest detail.  For example, Shawn had a phenomenal grasp of market trends, how COVID was impacting inventory, sales, construction, buyer's psychology, etc.  He absolutely had a bird's eye view of how all these complex variables interact with each other (and he's happy to share the data with you if you want to see it).  But at the same time, he completely understood how tiny details were important - when comparing comps, he might start by discussing price per square foot, but then he would show you a particular comp and discuss how the remodeled kitchen likely impacted the price.

Big picture - Shawn encouraged us to fix up our house and stage it (absolutely the right decision, even though we were wary at first)

Detail - When Shawn walked through our house, he noticed that a couple of our doorknobs didn't match the rest of them.  He quickly found a matching set on Amazon for under $20 and sent us the link.

Shawn works his butt off.  Shawn is incredibly dedicated and has the philosophy that you are spending a lot of money for his services, and he wants to make sure you get you money's worth.  He coordinated everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything.  He saw himself as the project manager, and made all the phone calls (for painters, stagers, carpet, lighting, landscaping, handyman, etc.)  It wasn't even something I had to ask him to do.  He saw it as his job and took the initiative to call people and meet with them.  He screened people for quality and kept an eye on their progress to make sure everything was going smoothly.  If you want to just hand Shawn the keys to your place and say, "do everything", he will.  But he's also very happy to keep you involved as much as you want to be.

Incredible communication - Shawn was always available and responded to texts or phone calls within minutes (if not seconds).  That was a huge relief, since often decisions need to be made quickly

Professional and personable - Shawn is both.  He takes his job very seriously, and takes a great deal of pride in the quality of his work.  But at the same time, he's got a great sense of humor and will set you at ease.  I think this combination also works extremely when he communicates with other agents and potential buyers.  They like him and they trust him.  Speaking of trust, Shawn is very ethical - honesty and transparency are core to the way he works, and whether it was disclosures or other issues, he always encouraged us to be truthful.

Keeps his cool under pressure  - The San Francisco real estate market is crazy, and decisions have to be made very quickly.  Sometimes after you list your home, you are faced with key decisions within hours of listing.  Shawn doesn't let his emotions (or more importantly his clients' emotions) interfere with sound decision-making.  In our particular situation, on the day our house was listed, we had a preemptive offer, cash offers and financed offers , some that expired within hours.  He helped us navigate very complex and difficult decisions in a thoughtful, reasoned, calm and objective way (even when we were panicking).

Results - Damn, what can I say.  At the end of the day what you really want to know is will Shawn get you the result you want.  The answer is no - he will get you results that are much better.  We were hoping for a certain sales price and had an idea of a listing price.  Shawn encouraged us to increase our listing price a bit, and ultimately we got 30% more than what we were hoping for, and this was significantly higher than the comps, in large part due to all the suggestions Shawn had made along the way.  In retrospect, Shawn knew exactly what he was doing from beginning to end, and if you work with him it's a forgone conclusion that you will be very happy with the results.  It's really not about luck; it's about skill, and Shawn has that in spades.
